How to fix the problem of time synchronization failure in Windows

How to Repair a Failed Windows Time Sync Your Windows PC will automatically sync Time Sync with the time server to always show you the correct hour of the day.

And if your computer fails to synchronize the time, you will get a message saying "An error occurred while Windows was synchronizing with the time server." This tutorial explains how to fix Windows time synchronizing failures on your computer.

1. Enable "Set time" automatically

Checking whether you have enabled the Set Time Automatically option on your computer or not is the first thing you should do if you are facing the time synchronization failure issue.

  • To open the Settings menu on your computer, press Windows + I.
  • Click the Time & Language tab on the left sidebar.

Click on the Date & time section in the left sidebar.

Toggle the Set time automatically option in the right sidebar.

In the right sidebar, make sure that the correct time zone is selected in the Time zone drop-down list; alternatively, you can switch to the Set time zone automatically option.

2. Use the command prompt to force the time synchronization.

If the problem persists, use the command prompt to re-register the time service and then resynchronize the time.

  • Press Windows + X and launch "Terminal (Admin)."

  • Run the following commands in order:

net stop w32time
w32tm /unregister
w32tm /register
net start w32time
w32tm /resync

Quit Windows PowerShell and see if the time synchronization failure issue goes away.
