The new Intel Unison application, link your phone to your laptop

New Intel/Unison App Intel has announced an interesting new app called Unison that aims to "seamlessly" connect Intel-powered computers with smartphones—not just Android phones but iOS devices as well.

Following what Intel says is a "simple pairing process," Unison will allow computers to replicate four key features of a connected phone, where they can answer and make calls; They can share photos and files (photos taken with the phone will appear in a specific Unison gallery on the PC); they can send and receive texts; and they can receive (and in some cases respond to) notifications that the phone receives, although if Unison is closed, they will go to the Windows Notification Center.

"The advantage we can offer a computer user who has a well-designed PC is not having to choose their hardware based on the computer they have," said Josh Newman, Intel's vice president of mobile innovation. "They have an iPhone, and they have an Android phone." And any device they want to use will be able to connect to this capability, "and when you're... on your laptop and you get notifications or text messages on your phone, you can keep them in your bag and get straight back to getting on with your work."

Newman says iOS users may see "slight differences" from the experience of Android owners using the Unison app, but most of the core capabilities will be the same. and while Android users will and how much Unison users can do with certain notifications from third-party apps may also vary depending on how the iOS and Android versions of those apps behave.

The Intel Unity app is available for download from the Microsoft Store. Users will also need to download the companion app from the Google Play Store if they use an Android device or from the App Store if they own an iPhone. The app is free to download and use, and according to the report, in addition to working on HP laptops (Dragonfly G3 and Dragonfly Folio G3, both from the 12th-generation Evo PC), The application was also able to run on a Core i9 13th-generation desktop PC.

In addition to the aforementioned hardware, Intel Unison is also running a Surface Laptop Studio with an Intel 11th-Gen processor and a Lenovo ThinkPad X13s that has Qualcomm's Snapdragon 845 Gen 3 processor, the latter of which is particularly interesting because it uses ARM chips, which Intel said it's open to. has agreed to work with Qualcomm (and AMD) to run the software on computers powered by third-party chips, but there has been no official announcement from any of the three parties.

When the device is successfully connected, Intel Unity will allow users to send and receive SMS messages, make and receive calls, and receive app notifications directly on their PC. They will also be able to access their phone gallery on their PC and easily transfer files between both devices by simply dragging and dropping files. Within the application window, unfortunately Intel Unison does not support application mirroring at this time, but there is a possibility that it will be added in the future. However, the Intel software solution is still quite capable with its current features, and the fact that it supports iPhones is an added bonus.
